OTKF Weekly Madrasa
New 2011/2012 Academic Year
Assalamu alaykum,
The OTKF Weekly Madrasa is pleased to announce a new curriculum and courses for the 2011/2012 academic year. We have made a number of changes to this year's curriculum, and have changed building. We are still based at the Oxford Brookes University, however we have relocated to the Willow Building, Headington Hill Campus, on Headington Hill (OX3 0BP), essentially just across the road from the Gipsy Lane site. Prayer facilities are provided on-site.
We are pleased to confirm that many of last year's teachers are returning (with the addition of our new Arabic teacher, Mrs Asma Rahman).

Induction
Student induction to the new Weekly Madrasa programme will take place in Week one (16th October) from 1:00-2:00pm in the Willow building, Headington Hill. We encourage all new and continuing students to attend as this is an opportunity to meet the instructors and fellow students, and to learn more about the classes that are on offer at the OTKF Weekly Madrasa this academic year.
Please note: The Arabic for Absolute Beginners class will run from 2:00-2:30pm in this first week. All other classes will run as normal.

New Madrasa Schedule
1.00-2.30pm: Arabic for Absolute Beginners
Instructor: Mrs Asma Rahman
Course text: Gateway to Arabic Book 1

The course intends to provide the student with a detailed historical study of the Prophet's life, trials and circumstances in order to derive lessons. The classes are structured around the core text, and students will be required to read the allocated chapters prior to each class.
Prerequisites: None. We encourage everyone to attend this course.

Using an English translation of the famous Ḥanafī textbook Mukhtasar al-Qudūrī, we shall cover what types of water may be used in preparing for worship, when and how to perform ablutions (wuḍū’) and the ritual bath, and similar matters.
